I learned an interesting fact on our wine tour at Chateau Julien even though I didn't care for their wine. Apparently oak wine barrels that don't come from France are made in the USA, and the wood for the american barrels come mainly for Pennsylvania. :)
Perhaps some of the trees that Uncle Dave cuts down actually make their way into wine barrels. That would explain the massive amounts of money in the logging industry. A little home state pride there... too bad both PA and MA aren't too keen on receiving wine shipments from CA. Hopefully the redcent supreme court ruling on interstate wine shipment will change all that.
